The Grove iPhone app

The client app is live on the App Store. Your clients download Grove, sign in with the account they already have, and do their check-in from the home screen instead of hunting for a browser tab. Habits are one tap, goals and measurements chart as they log them, and the weekly reflection they write on the phone arrives in your session prep. Nothing changes on the coach side.

The Grove iPhone app

Three screens from the Grove iPhone app: the Today check-in with mood and habits, the Goals screen with a steps chart, and a submitted weekly reflection

Coaching happens in an hour a week. Change happens in the six days after it. Those six days were the part of Grove that lived in a browser tab, and a browser tab is a bad place to build a habit. A client who has to remember a URL, find the login, and wait for a page will keep it up for about two weeks. The friction wins quietly, and the coach usually learns about it at the next session.

Grove is now a native iPhone app, free on the App Store, built for the client rather than the coach. The Today screen opens on the week’s focus, a mood rating, the habits they agreed to, and the actions still open, so a check-in is a scroll and a few taps instead of a chore. Goals and measurements chart themselves as the numbers come in, which means a client watches their own line move without waiting to be told it did. The weekly reflection gets written on the phone, in their own words, and lands in the coach’s session prep before anyone opens a client record. Messages go both directions, so the thought a client has at ten at night does not have to survive until the next call.

The split is deliberate. The coach’s work is planning, preparation, and judgment, and that work belongs at a desk with room to think. The client’s work is a few minutes a day in the middle of an ordinary life, and that belongs on the phone already in their pocket. Building one app for both would have compromised each of them.

Nothing changes for coaches. There is no setup, no new invite to send, and no toggle to find. Existing clients sign in with the account they already have and their history is waiting. Whether an answer was tapped out at a bus stop or typed at a kitchen table is not something a coach has to think about, which is the point.

iPhone today. Clients on Android use the web app, which covers the same ground in a phone browser, and an Android build is on the roadmap.
